Opinion | Breast milk is liquid gold for babies but not a hangover cure

Last week, I thought "what a waste" while reading about Burning Man attendees who made lattes from expressed breast milk. Then the Sept. 11 Metro article " 'Liquid gold' aids tiny, fragile babies" helped explain why. It's reassuring that research is affirming a practice — using donated breast milk instead of formula in neonatal intensive care units — that I recall being somewhat controversial when I was a pediatrics resident in the 1990s. I doubt, however, that it is much good as a hangover cure.
